What time should I arrive at the Panda Base?
Arrive by 7:30-8:00 AM for the best panda viewing. Pandas are most active in the early morning (feeding time) and sleep during the heat. The base opens at 7:30 AM. By 10 AM, most pandas are napping. Allow 2-3 hours.
Can I hold or touch a panda?
Holding or touching pandas is no longer permitted at the Chengdu Panda Base due to disease control. However, you can get very close through glass enclosures. The Dujiangyan Panda Base offers volunteer programs with more interaction (advance booking required).
How far is Leshan Giant Buddha from Chengdu?
Leshan Giant Buddha is approximately 150 km from Chengdu, taking 2-2.5 hours by car. A full-day trip is recommended (9 hrs), including 2-3 hours at the Buddha site and a local Sichuan lunch. The Buddha is 71 meters tall.
Is Mount Emei worth visiting?
Yes, Mount Emei is one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains and a UNESCO site. The Golden Summit (3,099m) offers spectacular views, especially at sunrise. Most visitors take the cable car up and hike down. A full day is needed.
Can you arrange panda volunteer programs?
Yes, we can arrange panda volunteer programs at the Dujiangyan Panda Base (1.5 hrs from Chengdu). Programs include cleaning enclosures, preparing food, and feeding pandas. Cost is approximately ¥700-1000 per person. Advance booking required.
